Digital SAT

Free vocabulary and Reading and Writing practice built specifically for the digital SAT format. Two tracks, same words, different skills.

The digital SAT Reading and Writing section is built from short passages, usually 25 to 150 words, with exactly one question attached to each. The section runs 64 minutes across two adaptive modules of 27 questions each, and your performance on the first module affects how difficult the second one is. There is no penalty for guessing, so every question is worth answering even when you are not sure.

Vocabulary sits inside the Craft and Structure domain, which makes up roughly a quarter of the section, but the real exam never asks for a dictionary definition on its own. Every vocabulary question asks what a word means based on the sentence around it, which is exactly why knowing a word and being able to spot it inside an unfamiliar passage are two different skills.

This hub splits those two skills into two tracks that share the same vocabulary. SAT Vocab builds the word knowledge first, definitions, real quotes, and commonly confused word pairs. Passage Practice then puts those same ten words inside full digital SAT-format question sets covering every Reading and Writing skill, not just vocabulary. Working through both tracks for the same episode number is the fastest way to move from recognizing a word to using it under real test conditions.

Choose a track below to get started. New Passage Practice sets are added regularly, so check back if the set matching your current SAT Vocab episode is not live yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these real College Board test questions?

No. Every passage and question here was written specifically for this practice series and formatted to match the digital SAT's style: short passages, one question per passage, and the same content domains the real exam uses. None of it is pulled from an official or leaked test.

How many questions does the actual Reading and Writing section have?

The real digital SAT Reading and Writing section has 54 questions split into two 27-question modules, with 64 minutes total, and it is adaptive. Nothing on this site is timed or adaptive, so treat these sets as untimed skill practice first, then simulate real timing separately once you are comfortable.

How much of the test is actually vocabulary?

Vocabulary questions fall under the Craft and Structure domain, which makes up roughly a quarter of the Reading and Writing section. Strong vocabulary also helps indirectly on every other question type, since difficult words show up inside passages no matter what skill is being tested.

Should I do SAT Vocab or Passage Practice first?

Vocab first, in order. Each Passage Practice set reuses the same ten words from the matching SAT Vocab episode, so reviewing the episode first means you will recognize the words instead of getting stuck on them mid-question.

Is there a penalty for guessing wrong?

Not on the real exam, so build that habit here too. Answer every question in a set, even a guess, then read the explanation regardless of whether you got it right.

Do I need to finish all the vocab episodes before starting Passage Practice?

No. You can work through both tracks side by side, episode by episode. Passage Practice currently covers Sets 1 through 15, with more sets being added to eventually match the full SAT Vocab series.
